What is an AI storyboard generator?

An AI storyboard generator turns a script or scene description into a sequence of frames, one per shot, so a team can see the film before anyone shoots it. Doing this well is a pipeline problem rather than a single-model problem: the script has to be broken into shots, each shot needs a frame, the frames need to share one visual language and one cast, and a few key shots usually want motion. How it works

  1. Break the script into shots

    Feed the script to a language model with a prompt that returns one line per shot: framing, subject, action and mood. This becomes the spine of the board.

  2. Render a frame per shot

    Send each shot description to a text-to-image model. Fix the style once in the prompt and, for a recurring cast, condition on a reference set so the same characters appear in every frame.

  3. Animate the shots that need it

    Pick the handful of frames where motion matters and run them through an image-to-video model. Everything else stays a still, which keeps the board fast and cheap to revise.

Can the storyboard be exported or shared?
Every frame is a standard image and every animated shot a standard video, so the board can be downloaded, dropped into a slide deck or a shot list, or shared as a link from your history.
